Une voile et un bateau

The making...

This song wants talks about how important it is to be able to find beauty in simple things, which are often within reach. Is this perhaps the secret to happiness? A question that obviously remains unanswered. It was constructed musically in a somewhat curious way, using two musical objects written exactly twenty years apart from each other

The original musical objects

The first (m025) is from August 2003 and is a normal and simple verse+chorus sequence, of piano inspiration, with a solo voice suggesting the melodic part.

The second (m055) is from August 2023 and was born as an instrumental object, with sequences of 4 ascending and descending notes. In the final part the two objects are superimposed, almost as if to represent a temporal fade. The sounds are soft and sunny at the same time, perhaps a little ‘Floydian’ in the use of the glide guitar with repeated echoes

Original lyrics (in French)

Prends-moi tout ce que tu veux

Le temps qui passe

La lumiere, les espaces

Et donne-moi tout ce que tu peux

Tes années d'or

Tes raisons tes erreurs

Soyons toujours ensemble

Même si le ciel est gris

Le vent qui nous enchante

N'amenera pas la pluie

Une voile et un bateau pour nous

Une voile et un bateau pour nous

Que pour nous

English translation

Take from me everything you want

The passing of time

Light, spaces

And give me everything you can

Your golden years

Your reasons your mistakes

Let's always be together

Even if the sky is gray

The wind that enchants us

Won't bring rain

A sail and a boat for us

A sail and a boat for us

Only for us
